A lovely shade for fall don't you think? A litte moody, a little mysterious, but plays well with others...Somewhere between a navy and royal, there are many, many variations of this beautiful color....
Indigo is a color named after the blue dye derived from the plant Indigofera tinctoria and it was Isaac Newton who first introduced indigo as a spectral color. In the mid-1660s, Newton bought a pair of prisms at a fair near Cambridge. He experimented by shining a narrow beam of light through the prism thus producing a rainbow-like band of colors, indigo or "blew" being one of them.
