From Clutter to Calm

I don't know about you, but there is something about the start of a new year that makes me want to freshen up my home.  I know lots of people head to the gym, or start a new diet but for some reason I feel the need to purge the clutter, get rid of the accummulated junk that seems to take over around the holidays.

 

I love this simple, crisp and uncomplicated bedroom.  I think removing all unnecessary clutter helps me sleep better and relieves stress. 

 

Today marks the return to school for my children and I have a list a mile long that I want to accomplish!

Getting Ready....

I'm getting ready to pull out all of my Christmas decorations, and I always forget how tedious it is....seems it takes the entire day! 

 

I have hot chocolate, Nat King Cole playing in the background, and a fire roaring in the fireplace.

 

Hope your Thanksgiving was wonderful! 

 

I know the season has just begun, but thought I would give you a break from the traditonal red and green....hope you enjoy these beautiful, soft pastels.

Loving Lavender

After the painter finished my daughter's room, at first I was not pleased with the lavender tinted grey that we chose.... however it has grown on me tremendously and now I'm in love with all things lavender.

New Project

I think I've mentioned before that I have 3 daughters....The one in the middle is 12 and is in dire need of a room makeover.  I've been putting off this project for some time just because she's in that transitional stage and I really only want to do this one more time!  I showed her this photo, and she loved it.  She's an old soul, and I think this room would be perfect for her with a little tweaking.

What do you think? I'd love to hear your thoughts!

Loving Lace

Lace is everywhere these days...in home decorating and in fashion. I can remember as a child sifting through my grandmother's cedar chest and finding stack upon stack of old lacy doilies, tablecloths and scraps of fabric. So beautiful and delicate.
